Dear Friends,
In September 2008, I know where I will really be.
I will be in Paris, France serving as an au pair. I will be there from the end of August to July 2009 and I don't know if I'm coming back in the middle.
I haven't known this all summer; I just made the commitment last week. I am sorry I didn't tell some of you that I have talked to recently, but I needed the decision to sink in. I made the commitment with reservation, but knowing that I needed to do this since I did not go abroad during college. I said my first good-bye today and it was hard, but it set in the reality that I am actually going to Paris. oh yah, but now I am very happy to go!
Cody Watters' family introduced me to my family, the Rullier's. I will be living in the sixteenth arrondissment by the Kennedy-French Radio tower nannying for two children (20 months and 3 years). I will be living down the street from my family in my own flat. I will be taking French classes during the day a couple times a week, playing in the gardens and museums, and working in the afternoon.
From this email, I just wanted to let you know and hope that I could get your addresses for postcards and such. I'm banking on emails and snail mails to get me through the year, but if the commitment is too problematic, you can stalk on a blog I'll probably produce at the end of the month.
I hope to see some of you before I leave. If you're in the mood for a road trip to Fresno, it will definitely be worth it :) Make a weekend out of it. And if you're in the area of Paris or Europe or know of anyone in the area, please let me know.
Please pray for courage and peace for this journey as well as finding fellowship in Paris.
love, jen
