Wednesday, 27 August, at 430am I leave for
Feelings: I am good. I am neither really scared nor really excited. I am just—there. And that’s an ok feeling for me. I am expecting things to be as new and weird as they can be. My family and I will struggle between the language barrier, I will get lost, I will hate to use my French in public, but it is going to happen. Shrug my shoulders and learn. It is kind of like tripping on the street and all those emotions of becoming nervous, self conscious, and embarrassed that someone just saw you; you look around, picking yourself up and subtly laugh to yourself of such a dummy incident. But you learn, you laugh, and grow.
I will be sad and probably cry when I leave the airport. I will miss my family a lot.
I have chosen to create a blog to update my fans. J just kidding, but really, this system is the easiest for the masses to willingly choose their fate upon my life. This blog will reach a lot of different people that are apart of my life, from Clovis West High, to

Hi Jen,
Angel, Chloe and I all wish you well in your new endeavors. We definitely know where you're coming from after having spent 3 years abroad in Amsterdam. I can tell you that the time will pass by quickly. So quickly, that when the assignment is over, you may realized that there was so much more to experience in Europe and you wished that you had a few more months (or years) to take it all in. The initial feeling of missing your family is natural but the reality is that you will be so busy with new activities and adventures, you won't even have time to think about it. And with all of the media we have today...internet, chat, email, blogs, mobile phones, SMS, etc, etc, it will seem like you are as far away as Santa Barbara. So, have a great time, relax, don't get hung up on embarrassing yourself with your French because in reality, the Parisians don't really care anyways, so why should you???
We love you....Uncle Matt, Angel and Chloe von Dutch
